I took out Glynrd, ScottX, WillyMay, MoRich, JimmyD, SteveO & Luke. We headed out 10E… it was ROUGH..didn’t look like it was groomed in awhile. Then when we hit where Three Lakes start grooming it got WORSE!!!. We put up with it til we hit 6 towards Alvin and we found GREAT trails as we headed to Tippler. The trails were as good as it gets til we rounded a curve right into a huge tree laying across the trail.. the OMG!!! Both Scott & I slide into it.. but no damage (besides a few scratches on Dawns sled..) to the sleds or riders. After regrouping we managed the fallen tree off the trail and stopped at the White Tail for fuel & food. From there we headed home thru Phelps with decent trails except by Brule Tap.
Today I thank that guardian angel that rests upon my shoulder!! … and tomorrow
WE RIDE!!!

Glynard and I took a look out thru Sayner today,  stopped and had lunch. Eagle River Headwater Trails were GREAT… Sayner trails we hit were rough and pretty much plowed bare. Conover trails on the way back were also in Great shape. Was nice to ride with Glynard again, we had a blast. Made kind of made an early day of it coz we were tired..LOL
Plan on taking a longer ride tomorrow, possibly up to Bond Falls.

WE RIDE!!!

Early season snow therapy

3 of us old guys headed up to Greenland today for some therapy and hooked up with 3 young fellows from Ladysmith - Dustin, Adam, Zach. We rode 13 to Twin Lakes again. It is still ungroomed and lots of sloppy swampy stuff but with an extra 3′-4′ of powder on top. We had a blast getting stuck, burning belts & getting soaked. By the time we made it to Twin Lakes we were beat… but I think the young guys were worse.. LOL.. We chilled at Pine View for some good grub and a rest, ran into a bunch of old friends.. then headed down the Bill Nichols back to Pat’s Yamaha. The Bill Nichols was packed down but rough and it was getting dark and the rutted stuff was trying to jump out and get us but we made it back unscaved… We live to ride another day!!!
Heading back north again tomorrow!

I’m Back!!!

I took my first ride of the season today we trailered to Pats Yamaha in Greenland where we bought stickers and headed up trail 13 loop to Twin Lakes. We were the first sleds out. After the 1st 5 miles of what seemed like riding in rocks and gravel the 3 young pups decided to turn around & trailer up to Twin lakes while Pit & I kept riding north. 100 yards after leaving the others we were out of the rocky stuff into the wet swampy rutted section and a bit more snow for a few miles. As the trails improved til the last 6 or so miles to Twin Lakes where we were back into gravely crap. We hooked back up with the 3 young bucks about 3 miles short of trail 3. They said they could hear us clacking through the gravel before they could hear our sleds. I never seen another sled track til then. We hung out at Parkview for about an hour before Pit & I headed south on the Bill Nichols and the other 3 headed north past South Range. We wound up back at Pats to enjoy a BBQ Turkey sandwich at there open house and to check out the new Yamahas. As Pit & I headed home The Breeze called me and said they were in 3 feet of LES Powder and snowing like crazy. north of South Range. Tenitive plans to head back up and ride with them tomorrow.

Do not get me wrong this was challenging riding but we had fun and again the first ones out!!!
So enjoy the pics and even have a video from today too!!!

Al didnt sled yesterday, had to do a trip south to Wausau to pick up his anniversary present..

snowhawk

Yesterday Steve  took out his new Dragon Switchback and put on 175 miles… riding from here to Watersmeet to Iron Mountain down south again..
He said trails are ok and holding their own. Found all trails still snow covered, rough in areas. Worst of the trails were south of Eagle River, (still snow covered but bumpy)… So as of yesterday at 3pm they were still holding on. As Steve said ” I’ve riden in worse”.. LOL
Right now it is 30  at 10:30 this morning. Guess we’ll have to take it day by day right now and will keep ya’s updated each day.

PRAY FOR COLD!!!
PRAY FOR SNOW!!!
